Wellington Inter-House Cross Country

Inter-House Cross Country

Last year was a stellar year for inter-house sport at Wellington and it was great to kick off the new school year in style with the first tournament of the year, the Inter-House Cross Country.

This event, held on the school field, was a gruelling race where children competed in their house groups with the aim of being crowned Inter-House Cross Country Champions! It consisted of 8 races, a boys and girls’ race from Year 3 – Year 6. Points were awarded for place getters as well as all competitors who took part.

The day proved to be an enormous success, with the weather gods once again smiling down on us and all children demonstrating true house spirit, cheering on competitors from their own and other houses. At the end of the day, there could only be one house winner and for the second year in a row that was Bronte house. Bronte House Captains were awarded the trophy during our last assembly of the half-term and all members of Bronte House took great pleasure in singing their house war cry in celebration of their victory. Individual race winners were also awarded place medals and it was wonderful to see the joy on their faces when their names were called out.

Big congratulations to all competitors and of course Bronte House for being named the 2014 Inter-House Cross Country Champions.

Mr Adam Edwards
