Year 5 children celebrate cycling proficiency success

During the last half term, 20 children from Year 5 have participated in the Cycle Training Scheme, which is run by Bradford Council.

Over a six week period the children learnt a range of skills which are essential to them being safer on the road. The children had to learn the correct manoeuvres for turning right, turning left, overtaking an obstacle and stopping in an emergency. They also had to demonstrate bike control as they weaved through wooden blocks.

This year we were fortunate to have Mr Alan Day, a member of the road safety team, volunteer to support our training, which made a very positive impact. A huge thank you also has to go to Mrs Debbie Homer, Mrs Lisa Frost and Miss Lauren Scott who all helped with the training.

All of the children were fantastic throughout the training and managed to stay cool on the day in order to pass both their theory and practical tests with flying colours. A massive well done to all of you.
