4CD Step Back to 1939

4CD have had an incredible day at Murton Park to kick start their World War 2 history topic. Putting themselves in the shoes of wartime evacuees, the children immersed themselves in activities of the time.

The children learnt all about what being an evacuee entailed with expert help from Mrs T. They all worked hard on completing farmhouse kitchen jobs such as cleaning tack, doing the washing with the mangle and washboard, making delicious crunch and rag rugs.

Mr H instructed the children on how to put on their gas masks, what to do if the air raid siren goes off and the most exciting part, putting out a fire bomb!

Thank you to our parent helpers, Mrs Rashid and Mr Lavan who were fantastic.  Staff at Murton Park said the children behaved impeccably and were a credit to the school. Everyone had an amazing day and learnt so much.   Well done 4CD!

What a pleasure it was to accompany such well behaved children 🙂 A fantastic experience of what life was like for the poor evacuees.
