Thirsty to Learn: A Visit to Yorkshire Water

As part of the Geography curriculum in Year 5, we learn about water. During this topic we learn about how the distribution of water varies throughout the world depending on climate and the consequences of low rainfall or drinking dirty water. Visiting Yorkshire Water  in Headingley allows the children to learn exactly what is involved to clean water so that it is fit for human consumption. After lunch we then visit the Esholt site where we learn how our waste water is managed.

Whilst visiting, the children showed a lot of enthusiasm and retained many of the facts about the various nasty objects in water that need to be removed. There were many fun activities to help the children learn and walks around the sites to see the cleaning process in action. Year 5 behaved really well and did themselves and Wellington Primary School proud.

Well done Year 5.
